Samsung goes for new chipset for Wireless USB

The range of Samsung Electronics added chip set, allowing to realize the function wireless interface Short Range Wireless USB.

The set includes two chips - S3C2680 and S5M8311. They can transmit high-definition video from a mobile device to an external display device. Accordingly, the initial applications are called cameras, camcorders, TVs and PCs. In the future, the manufacturer expects to use the chipset in the tablets, printers, projectors, portable HDD, Blu-ray players and cell phones.

Bandwidth Wireless USB interface exceeds 200 Mbps, while the energy efficiency it an order of magnitude 802.11g Wi-Fi.

For manufacturing and S3C2680 S5M8311 use 65-nanometer technology, optimized by the criterion of power circuits. The chipset, which includes a single-chip system and the radio frequency transceiver, to be very compact. Important advantages of the new chipset is the availability of an integrated controller, flash memory such as NAND and reduced by 30% compared with previous models of power consumption.  All this opens up the possibility of issuing decisions with the support of Wireless USB in different form factors, including the expansion card interface SD and modules that connect to the port USB.

Serial production of new items will begin in the final quarter of the year.
