Finally the moment for which all iPhone users have been waiting for is here. iPhone 3.0 has been released into the making bundled with tons of new features and a couple of new applications.

Apple conducted the iPhone 3.0 event in quite an interesting manner, giving app demos and previewing all new features for the iPhone. With this new OS for the iPhone, Apple is planning to explore a new dimension where it can provide a platform which is equally useful for the normal user and so for the business people.

It turns out that our last-minute rumors for iPhone 3.0 indeed turned out to be true. Below is a complete list of features and preview of what's new in iPhone 3.0

  • In-App Commerce: Allows developers to sell portions of their apps instead of selling the app in a whole.

  • Peer to Peer: New protocol would allow an iPhone to find other local devices in around the area using Bluetooth.

  • Accessories: It will now be possible for iPhone to control and communicate with external hardware devices through Dock connector or Bluetooth.

  • Push Notification: Unfortunately! no background app support but Push Notification would provide almost the same functionality with less battery usage.

  • Cut, Copy, Paste: Its finally here! and works throughout the iPhone system with any application.

  • Landscape mode: Now the Landscape mode keyboard works in all apps, including mail, and not just Safari.

  • Forward/Delete: Support for message forwarding and deleting individual messages in a conversation.

  • Multimedia messaging: Sending photos or audio files through messages is now available too.

  • Spotlight: A new additional homescreen that allows you to search through apps, text, messages or simply anything.

That's all for the most of it. Although I have skipped through other features too but the above ones are the most significant of all.

iPhone developers will be able to get their hands on iPhone 3.0 Beta starting from today. However, the final iPhone OS 3.0 will be available to the users in the summer (free for iPhone users and $10 for iPod Touch users).
