The much awaited MMS service for iPhone 3G and 3GS owners will arrive this friday. This is as per what AT&T has confirmed just now. The long-awaited Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) will be rolled out to all the users starting September 25th.
The announcement came via the company’s official Facebook page with AT&T posting that “Late morning, Pacific Time, on Friday, the new carrier settings update enabling MMS should be live and ready to download through iTunes.”
The software update only applies to iPhone 3G and 3GS customers. AT&T will also update its Facebook page with instructions and further details at that time. Although the iPhone OS 3.0 software update and SDK brought much awaited MMS feature to iPhone, AT&T wasn’t really supporting it. This brings a moment of relief for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS customers on AT&T that they ll finally get to user MMS capabilities of iPhone 3G and 3GS devices.
However, the support for tethering iPhone to use as modem with PC or Mac is still due from AT&T. I wonder when Indian cellular operators will start offering MMS support for iPhone 3G owners.
